Tips to Clean Skateboard Bearings

You must clean your skateboard bearings on regular intervals as not doing so can affect the performance and speed of your skateboard. Cleaner skateboard bearings  refers to a faster and better functional skateboard. Here are a few steps listed on how to clean your skateboard bearings.

Step 1: Stay clean –It is quite a messy job to clean your bearings and in case you are doing it in the house lay down some old rags and some paper to protect the surface of where you are cleaning them. Also, it is good if you wear old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Step 2: Removal of bearings from the skateboard - You have to remove your skateboard bearings from your skateboard and so remove the wheels and then remove each bearing. With the help of a rachet, you can remove the wheels and by using a screwdriver pop off the bearings.

You can even clean your skateboard bearings in China while they are still attached but it is quite better to take them off.

Step 3: Use of lubricant in washing the bearings - Lubricant such as Triflow should be used. Triflow lubricant and others alike do not leave any film or residue whereas WD-40 leaves a lot of residue behind that collects dirt and dust and then spray this on each bearing.

You should use a lot of the lubricant as you are essentially washing the bearing in this lubricant. While you spray you will see a lot of black dirt and muck coming out of the bearing. Once you are assured that the bearing from skateboard bearing manufacturer is clean, set it down and leave it to soak in the lubricant for a few minutes. Triflow and other such lubricants are available in any skate or bike shop.

Step 4: Replacement of the bearing back on the skateboard - You can place the bearings back on the skateboard once the lubricant is clean and replaces each wheel, fixing them properly and tightly.
